Research Center for Human Rights in Ethnic, Mountainous Areas (HRC) was established on March 24, 2016 according to Decision 214 QD-LHHVN of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA).
I. HRC target beneficiaries
1- People of Ethnic Minorities: those are ethnic groups with a smaller population than the majority, living in difficult and particularly difficult socio-economic conditions, being poor, have low starting point, limited access to public services and the enjoyment of social progress achievements. In particular, the ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people living in remote areas.
It is necessary to study and recommend policies for the ethnic minorities to develop in a sustainable way, gradually reduce the gap and become the subject of social development and solidarity with the peoples in the great family of Vietnamese people, together develop prosperity and happiness.
2. People with Disabilities: those are people with one or more physical or mental disabilities that cause a significant and long-term decline in the ability to perform activities.
Those who are born by birth with or faced events that lead to defects in the body or mind; they encounter many difficulties in livelihoods and social activities; easy to feel guilty, self-deprecating, difficult to integrate social activities
Through communication activities and livelihood projects, HRC help people with disabilities, especially in the areas of ethnic minorities, for their self-reliance in livelihoods, overcoming guilt to integrate into the community and society.
3-Women: accounting for more than ½ of the population, but due to the role of wife and mother, the responsibility of taking care of children and the family, women face many difficulties when participating in management and other social activities. On the other hand, through thousands of years of feudalism, gender prejudice has been restraining the role of women in social activities.
HRC strives for women’s equal rights, through communication activities, to eliminate gender prejudices to enhance the role and prestige of Women; Focus on contributing to improving the capacity and role of women, promoting their strengths in social management.
4-Children: those are under 16 years old, a social force of the country’s future. Children play an important role especially for the long-term development of the Nation-Nation. This is the age of the most important stage in the formation of human personality, so it is very important to carefully study the factors of Psychology and Physiology in child education.
Respecting and protecting children’s rights, especially the right to play, develop naturally, right to learn; Against acts of violence, pedophilia, exploitation of child labor are the operational goals of HRC.
