Canadian Embassy funded Project “Behavioral change communication to reduce Child, Early and Forced Marriages (CEFM) in all the 22 middle schools in Cu M’gar district, Dac Lac province”

Today, 15th July 2019, Mdm.Deborah Paulthe Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam and Dr. Hoang Xuan Luong- Director of the Human Rights Research Center for Ethnic Mountainous Areas (HRC) signed the Contribution Agreement to implement the project Behavioral change communication to reduce CEFM in all the 22 middle schools in Cu M’gar district, Dac Lac province” . Under the Agreement, CFLI will fund 34,961.96 CAD for HRC to implement the project in 22 middle schools of Cu M’gar district, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dac Lac province.

The project mainly focuses on:

  • Mobilizing an innovative communication approach to change the perception and behaviors for all the 22 middle schools in Cu M’gar district; which will then change the awareness and behaviors of their families and communities to reduce CEFM.
  • Empowering the students, both girls and boys,  to have enough knowledge and skills to become the real owners of the life by not getting married at an early age. Specifically, the students will then become the “ambassadors” to spread the messages of the project to their parents, families and their communities about the consequences of CEFM; which will significantly contribute to change the perception and behaviors of the entire society.

By the end of the project, it is expected that up to 10.923 students from all 22 middle schools of Cu M’gar district will be direct beneficiaries together with a large number of indirect beneficiaries, including teachers, parents, communities as well as local authorities, ect.

The project will be significantly meaningful to the Cu M’gar by contributing to improve awareness as well as change behaviors of ethnic minorities towards CEFM in a sustainable manner./.

HRC.
