HRC organizes communication workshop on Reduce Child Early and Forced Marriage

The Communication Workshop to Reduce Child Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) was jointly organized by the Research Center for Human Rights in ethnic minority (EM) areas and Cu M’gar District Department of Education and Training on 4th October 2019. This is the kick-off workshop under the Project ” Behavior-changed communication to reduce CEFM in 22 middle schools in Cu M’gar district, Dac Lak province” funded by Canada Fund for Local Initiatives.

The workshop welcomed the participation of the representatives from Dac Lak Deparment of Education and Training, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Health, CEMA’s Department of Local Affairs II, Cu M’gar People’s Committee and 22 Principles from 22 Middle schools in Cu M’gar district, Dac Lak province.

 

The workshop has listened to the prensetation of Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuong- HRC Senior Project Coordinator about the project objectives, activities and expected outcomes; Ms. Pham Thi Phuoc An- Deputy Director of CEMA’s Department of Local Affairs II about the overview of CEFM in the region; Ms. Pham Thi Tuyet Nhung- Deputy Director of Population and Family Planning about the health sector’s interventions.

Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Robert Bisset- Counsellor (Public and cultural affairs) – Canada Fund for Local Initiative (CFLI) Program Manager said: “Under our Canada Fund for Local Initiative, the Embassy of Canada is pleased to support the Research Center for Human Rights in Ethnic Minorities and Moutainous Areas goal of reducing CEFM here in Dac Lak. I believe this project will create positive changes in Dac Lak.”

Speaking at the workshop, Ms. Mai Linh Nham- Chairperson of Office, HRC and Project Manager appreciated the support of Canada’s CFLI Program, the cooperation of Dac Lak People’s Committee, and especially the close and constructive cooperation of Cu M’gar District Department for Education and Training. She also hopes that the project will significantly contribute to address the CEFM in Cu M’gar district, Dac Lak province.

After one-day discussion, a school-based communication plan was developed by the active contribution of all participants. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Le Huu Quynh- Division Head, Cu M’gar District Department of Education and Training wrapped up and concluded the follows-up./.
