Improving school readiness of ethnic minority children

(LĐTĐ) The project “Improving school readiness and learning outcomes of ethnic minority children in Vietnam” is implemented in 12 communes in difficult areas of Tay Giang, Quang Nam and Van Chan district in Mu Cang Chai of Yen Bai province, to improve the readiness to go to school and study results for ethnic minority children from 3 to 11 years old.

The project focuses on preschool and primary school children, adopting Child Relief Organization approaches such as: “Supporting preschool children to become familiar with literacy and math “and” Enhancing literacy skills for elementary school children “at schools and families.

These approaches are supplemented by the method of “mother tongue-based multilingual education” to overcome the language barrier between teachers and students who are ethnic minority children.

In addition, the project also contributes and enhances the quality of learning environment in schools through the improvement of classroom facilities and reading corners, libraries at school sites, sanitation areas, and supply areas. Appropriate teaching materials such as books, visual materials and reading materials. Parent clubs, banks of books and community activities, such as Camp reading, Peer reading, Community reading … are also expanding.
